Nelson Commons set to transform Nelson’s downtown

A rending of the new Nelson Commons building

Welcome to the Nelson Commons. Starting with a need for a new home for the ever-popular Kootenay Co-op, the Nelson Commons idea came into being when the Co-op took possession of the property previously occupied by Extra Foods in downtown Nelson. This includes the entire parking area that runs from Baker to Vernon Streets. We promised they were coming and now they’re here. The latest and greatest architectural renderings of Nelson Commons, which have  been submitted to the City of Nelson for development approval! They are the end result of loads of input from the community, and hard work from the Nelson Commons team — in particular Raymond Letkeman Architects, Steven Kaup from Studio 9 Architecture + Planning, David Dobie Design and Spearhead Timber Works. Be sure to swing by the Nelson Commons Display Suite and Sales Office at 621 Vernon Street. They will be open Saturday August 24, from 12 until 7. Regular hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m., or by appointment (just call the Nelson Commons hotline to book: 250-352-5847).
