The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group is pleased to announce an important management promotion from within the company. Effective October 1, 2012, the new General Manager of the Cranbrook/Fernie Division that will oversee CHBZ-FM, CHDR-FM & CJDR-FM will be Leo Baggio. In addition to his General Manager’s role, Leo will also serve as Program Director of CHDR / CJDR. Leo has 28 years experience in the broadcast industry, having worked in Edson, AB, and Smithers, BC, prior to coming to Kamloops, BC.

He has been an integral part of the senior management team at the Kamloops Division with responsibilities as the Director of Radio Programming & Operations for the last two years. Previous to this, he has also been on-air as an afternoon Drive host and assistant operations manager.

“I’m delighted to recognize Leo for all his contributions to our company over the past 28 years, particularly in radio,” explained Rod Schween, President of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group. “His overall leadership, not only in our radio division, but throughout the company, will be a large contributor to his future success.

”Leo strongly believes in leading by example, and by doing so hopes to garner the respect of his new radio family in Cranbrook.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all of the staff and embracing the quality of life and family-friendly atmosphere I’ve heard so much about in Cranbrook,” he said. Leo takes over from Rod Schween, who recently left the position as General Manager to move to Kamloops, BC, for his new role as President of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group. While his son will remain in Kamloops to attend Thompson Rivers University, Leo and his wife Kim and their two young daughters will be moving to Cranbrook in late September.
