Castlegar is definitely seeing a mini construction boom these days. Projects include the new gaming facility near the airport, JJ Fashions, the recently completed City Furniture building and a revamp to Kalawsky GM.

Plus a new Kootenay Savings branch is under construction and nearing completion in Castlegar. The new financial outlet will be built to LEED certification standards, and will be the “greenest” branch yet in the Kootenay Savings system.

“We are excited to be providing a more convenient location for our many members that reside and work in the south Castlegar area” said Brent Tremblay, president and CEO of Kootenay Savings. “We have had a very positive response from our members about this move and look forward to better meeting our members’ needs.”

Targeted for completion in early summer 2011, the 7,700-square-foot, two-storey branch will offer full retail banking services, a commercial banking division, a MoneyWorks financial planning office and law offices.

Forrest Drinnan, Kootenay Savings board chair added, “In keeping with our corporate social responsibility initiatives, we are pleased to be building this community branch to LEED standards in order to achieve formal LEED certification.”

The new branch will be the 14th for Kootenay Savings. Dan Maglio Contracting Ltd., based in Nelson, was awarded the contract.
