Amanda Savage and Amanda Landry, owners of Castlegar's Columbia Functional Fitness personal training are the new owners of Kootenay Cycling.

Kootenay Cycling, in Kinnaird Park Church, has been a part of the Castlegar community for 10 years and was recently up for sale. The cycling company was purchased by Columbia Functional Fitness.

“We have big plans for the studio, we have decided to expand the schedule and offer a variety of classes like Spin, Tabata, Bootcamps, Functional Training, Mobility & More!” says Amanda Landry.

The two young women are excited to be starting on this business venture together following their dreams and offering Castlegar classes for all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced.

Both owners have a history in trades jobs, Landry running equipment and Savage as a journeyman mechanic, they both bring the skills needed to not only operate the business but service and repair the bikes and equipment themselves.

“I loved the trades, but fitness is where my passion has always been, it’s what I love” said Savage.

Amanda Savage is also a volunteer with the Castlegar Fire Department and has plans to train the team for the 2018 Firefighter Games, “We have enough female members to put in an all-girls team this year, I’m looking forward to working with the ladies,” she says.

Columbia Fitness/Kootenay Cycling recently celebrated their official grand opening in Castlegar.
