Kootenay region statistics: Real estate market update

As the Real Estate market around B.C. and Alberta has been in a constant state of flux over the past year, it is interesting to note that the Kootenay area has not seen drastic changes like some of the larger city centres.

Listing inventory is up overall in the region by 9 per cent, with approximately 2,853 single family residential listings compared to 2,621 at this time in 2009.

The overall sale price to asking price was 95.15 per cent this year to date, compared to 95.97 per cent last year at this time—with the average selling price for the region coming in at $298,039 for a single family residential home. The length of time that homes were on the market before they sold was down by about 4.5 days compared to 2009 and it took 86.3 days on average.
