Brenda and Todd Bannister of Kimberley, owners of the popular decor and furniture store, The Rustic Hutch, in Marysville, have opened the city's first drive-thru and sit-down coffee house.

The establishment is called The Timber Hitch and it caters to the tastes of local and visiting coffee drinkers.  After operating 2,000 square foot Rustic Hutch over the last year or so, the Bannister's took over an adjacent 800 square foot space to their retail store.  They opened the new coffee house which seats about 20 to 25 people in the last week of August.  There is an open doorway between the two establishments so customers to either shop can easily wander through to the other one.

"It has been a three month process to get the doors open," says Todd Bannister.  "The reaction from customers has been very positive, in fact, all during the time we were under construction we had people knocking on the door wondering when we would be open."

The new Timber Hitch Coffee fronts busy Highway 95A that sees some 3,000 vehicles pass by on any given day.  The new drive-in feature allows these travelers to nip-in off the road, head through the drive-thru and grab a coffee on the go.

What about the name, Timber Hitch Coffee Shop?  Todd explains, "I'm a miner by trade and we have a lot of loggers in the area too.  The timber hitch was a common knot used by miners and loggers in their day-to-day working environments.  So here we are tying two businesses together and the timber hitch knot is a good symbol of that."

The Timber Hitch Coffee Shop is open seven days a week: Monday to Saturday 6 am to 8:00 pm and on Sunday 9 am to 7 pm.  It is located at 724 - 304th Street in Marysville or south Kimberley.
