With more than a dozen empty store fronts or existing businesses for sale in Kimberley’s downtown pedestrian-only Platzl, concerned business owners are calling for a much needed strategy or plan going forward.

A poster posted on several business windows reads, “Empty storefronts, businesses wishing to sell, lack of Platzl traffic…these issues affect business confidence and perceptions of community vitality and are all symptoms of issues we need to address. A transition of our retail environment is underway—with a plan we can control the outcome, without a plan we simply accept the path we are on. Some analysis has been done to define the issues. We need to collectively agree on a plan and how to execute on that plan.

Special Meeting...There is a special meeting to discuss the issues and a plan. Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Kimberley and the City of Kimberley will also be in attendance. We need you to attend—this is your livelihood.”

The special meeting is scheduled for tonight, Tuesday, April 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at Center 64 in Kimberley. The contact is Don McCormick 250-432-5460.
