Kimberley and Trail chamber managers elected to BC Chamber Executives Board
Kimberley has been selected to host the 2012 conference
In support of small and medium businesses across the province, the managers of chambers of commerce and boards of trade have reorganized to improve their performance in support of members.
Shifting from a geographic representation, British Columbia Chamber Executives (BCCE) will now focus more on learning and collaboration to enhance service to the member businesses in their chambers, following a restructuring decision at the BCCE annual general meeting in Smithers, B.C., on September 30, 2011.
At the annual general meeting, BCCE also elected its new board of directors for 2011/12: President Peter Roaf, Delta Chamber of Commerce, vice-president Maureen Czirfusz, Houston, secretary Patti Noonan (Armstrong Spallumcheen), treasurer Fiona Famulak (Whistler), past president Deb McClelland (Kamloops), and directors, Peter Doukakis (Qualicum Beach), Tonia Richter (Chetwynd), Stephanie Sexsmith (Lumby), Sioban Staplin (Kimberley), and Maggie Stayanovich (Trail).
"Small- and medium-sized businesses are recognized as the backbone of the economy in this province," the new BCCE president Peter Roaf said. "Chambers of commerce and boards of trade, which support many of those businesses, have been around for a long time, some for more than 100 years. Collectively many of the chamber boards and their managers work together in speaking up to all levels of government on roadblocks or opportunities for business, through the BC Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce.”
BCCE selected Kimberley as the venue for its next conference and annual general meeting, September 6 to 8, 2012.
Formed as a Society in 1986, British Columbia Chamber Executives Society is a network of education, resources, and support for senior managers of chambers of commerce and boards of trade throughout British Columbia, in the provincial and national chamber network.
