Downtown Cranbrook is set to get a jolt in the arm with the recent announcement of professional medical centre relocating to the near vacant Baker Street Mall. It is reported that the 50,000+ square foot shopping mall will be transformed into the Baker Street Professional Centre which will house several family medical practice clinics, a physiotherapy practice and a pharmacy.

Cranbrook-based developer New Dawn Development has created an associated company to purchase and revitalize the Baker Street Mall.

It has been confirmed that the existing Green Clinic will relocate to the new Baker Street Professional Centre, as part of the overall redevelopment strategy.

"We are very excited about the redevelopment of the Baker Street Mall and are actively working on securing tenants for the currently vacant spaces," Chad Jensen, president of New Dawn Developments and the Baker Street Professional Centre, told the Daily Townsman in an interview.

The developer anticipates work on the redevelopment to start in the spring of 2014 and should be a boon for the Cranbrook downtown core and the community at large.
