On the 2010 August long weekend, the Ashley Furniture Home Store in Cranbrook had a fresh water line break, flooding almost the entire 12,000-square-foot showroom.

“At first, we thought it would be an easy clean-up,” said Joey Hoechsmann, one of the owners, “but soon we realized how much damage was caused.”

All flooring and much of the drywall had to be torn out. All furniture, mattresses and accessories were moved to a temporary location and sold off at 40 to 90 per cent off.

After two months of renovations, the Ashley Furniture Home Store opened their doors once again.

“It’s good to be back,” said Hoechsmann. “Our staff was absolutely incredible through this process; packing furniture, cleaning and working under less than perfect conditions.”

On Friday, October 23, the store was officially re-opened with new carpet, new drywall, a fresh coat of paint and of course all new stylish furniture.

The Cranbrook Ashley Furniture Home Store is locally owned and operated by Joey, Christine, Fred and Gloria Hoechsmann, and is part of a group of more than 400 retail stores in North America. Ashley is the number one selling furniture brand in North America. They offer a huge selection with great values and have one of the quickest delivery systems in the industry.

The Cranbrook Ashley Home Store has been recognized as one of the top stores for its outstanding customer service two years running.

“We would like to thank the contractors, our partners and most importantly our customers for supporting us through this process,” said Hoechsmann.
