Representatives from Eureka, Montana, were in Fernie and Cranbrook last week to promote further business connections between the two regions.

The group consisted of Tracy McIntyre (Eureka Rural Development Partners), Randy McIntyre, (Eureka Chamber of Commerce) and Tammy Lawler (Glacier Bank).

"We may be in two different countries but our communities have strong connections and many similarities," said Tracy McIntyre, executive director of Eureka Rural Development Partners. "We are looking for ways to expand these connections with our friends and neighbours in Canada."

The group met with representatives of the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and with a half-dozen board members of the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce, including manager Karen Penner, Sean Campbell, Lana Kirk, Dave Butler, Tracy Whiting, Connor Stewart and KRREA representative, Keith Powell.

Subjects discussed included tourism, bio-energy development, border crossing issues, cultural and sporting events and development opportunities on both sides of the border.
