Creating a respectful workplace policy and procedure
Since July, 2012, employees in BC may have a compensable claim through WorkSafeBC for a mental disorder if that mental disorder is a reaction to a traumatic event in the workplace, or is caused by a significant work-related stressor, including bullying and harassment. WorksafeBC recently approved policies that clarify the obligations of employers, workers and supervisors regarding preventing, where possible, or otherwise minimizing workplace bullying and harassment.
Carla Marshall, human resources consultant, outlines the specific steps employers can take to create a respectful workplace. The training session being offered includes:
- Employer duties, supervisor duties and worker duties regarding preventing bullying and harassment
- Specific steps you can take to create and implement a successful respectful workplace policy and procedure
- Benefits to you and your employees of creating a respectful workplace
