Cranbrook on the “Best Cities” in BC list

Cranbrook came in at number twenty on the list.

Vancouver-based BC Business magazine's January cover story ranked 36 cities in British Columbia as the province's best for work.

Cranbrook was the only Kootenay community recognized in the ranking. Of the 36 cities Cranbrook came in midde-of-the-pack at number twenty on the list garnering 45.40 points out of one hundred. Number one of the list was Fort St. John with 60.67 points, beating out heavy weights like Metro Vancouver, Richmond, Kelowna and Victoria.

Cranbrook made its best showing in the category, "where BC incomes are growing fastest." Cranbrook was fifth on the list with a income growth rate of 13.57%. Again Fort St. John (18.20%) topped this category while Prince Rupert (9.92%) and Terrace (7.87%) were at the bottom of this category.

Low population growth of only 0.03% put Cranbrook near the bottom on this category, the biggest city in the Kootenays came in at 33rd out of 36.
