Cranbrook Interior Woodwork wins gold award as British Columbia architectural woodwork celebrated
The B.C. chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) held its annual award banquet on September 18 in downtown Vancouver to celebrate innovative architectural woodwork projects and companies across the province.
"We're celebrating excellence in architectural woodwork, as well as design, and the apprentices coming up in our apprenticeship program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and other facilities," said AWMAC-BC vice-president Martin Berryman.
The gold winner in the service category was Cranbrook Interior Woodwork Ltd. for a private Cranbrook residence.
For the sixth year in a row, Cranbrook Interior Woodwork has received an award of excellence in quality and/or service at the yearly award banquet.
Scope of Work
• Cranbrook Interior Woodwork supplied and installed the custom residential casework for the kitchen, baths and closets. The kitchen and baths were finished in a Craftsman-style painted lacquer. The kitchen featured an island with distressed finish and Shaker-style legs.
• The architecturally designed home featured an “eyebrow” roof detail and radius interior windows. Cranbrook Interior Woodwork set up templates with their computer numerical control for the builder to follow, which achieved the desired look and final product.
• Interior crown, cornice and base mouldings that were used throughout the home were integrated into the cabinetry work to provide a seamless transition between Cranbrook’s factory-finished custom cabinetry and the rest of the finish carpentry.
Cranbrook Interior Woodwork, Brenda Crago’s Interior Design and Pidoca Construction worked together on the project.
