At its most recent council meeting, Cranbrook City Council has given zoning approval to Golden Life Management to develop another senior living facility in the city.

The two-acre parcel has sat empty for several years awaiting rezoning. It is located along Kootenay Street North (behind the Days Inn and next to the Shaw Cable building) and was the former location of a small mobile home park.

Golden Life, operators of Joseph Creek Village, applied to have the designation of the area changed to High Density Residential. The new project is expected to create approximately 97 units, offering independent living to long term care options for seniors.

Golden LIfe hasn't issued a construction schedule at this point but the City anticipates the project to move ahead fairly quickly.

Golden Life operates ten senior care facilities in the Kootenays and two in Alberta.  They are Castle Wood Village, Castlegar; Columbia Garden Village, Invermere; Crest View Village, Creston; Garden View Village, Kimberley; Joseph Creek Village, Cranbrook; Lake View Village, Nelson; Mountainside Village, Fruitvale, Rocky Mountain Village, Fernie; Rose Wood Village, Trail; Whispering Winds Village, Pincher Creek, Alberta; Silver Kettle Village, Grand Forks and Evanston Grand Village, Calgary, Alberta.
