Cranbrook artist Joseph Cross issues new Assiniboine series
As a fund-raising project to support Mount Assiniboine and other provincial parks in the Kootenays, renowned British Columbia artist Joseph Cross has completed the first of a series of four paintings depicting the magnificent scenery and vistas of Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park.
The Mount Assiniboine project is a labour of love born from Joseph Cross’ desire to support provincial parks in his community. The first painting, entitled “Sunburst Morning: Sunburst Mountain & Cerulean Lake,” was created following a number of expeditions by Sharon and Joseph Cross into Mount Assiniboine park.
From the Joseph Cross website: “hiking and exploring Mount Assiniboine in its various seasons has been a passion of (ours). Undertaking this project is a way to give back to the park what it has so graciously given. We know Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park touches the lives of those who venture there. Helping to enhance the experience of the visitor in this exceptional place brings meaning to our work.”

As each of the original paintings is completed, it will be reproduced in limited edition glicée (pronounced "she-glay") on canvas and the reproductions will be offered for sale to the public, with the profits going to benefit Mount Assiniboine and other Kootenay provincial parks through the Park Enhancement Fund.
