Columbia Power recognized as one of BC’s top employers

Castlegar, BC - Columbia Power Corporation is pleased to announce it has been named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2015. This is the second consecutive year Columbia Power has been honoured with this prestigious award that identifies the company as one of the province’s best places to work.

BC's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

“Being recognized as one of BC’s top employers for the second consecutive year is a great achievement,” said Frank Wszelaki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Power. “Our employees’ expertise truly is our organization’s most valuable asset and we are committed to providing them with a satisfying work environment to thrive in.”

Columbia Power was recognized for: maternity and parental leave top-up payments, defined benefits pension plan, and opportunities for online training and tuition subsidies.

Columbia Power is a lean and efficient organization, with 47 employees that share an entrepreneurial spirit. The organization offers the opportunity for employees to gain valuable experiences working on diverse projects.

In addition to its employees, Columbia Power provided the equivalent of 800 jobs through the construction of the Arrow Lakes Generating Station and the Brilliant Expansion Generating Station, near Castlegar and is currently employing over 200 people as a partner in the Waneta Expansion project, currently under construction near Trail.

Columbia Power is a Crown corporation wholly owned and controlled by the Province of British Columbia.
