The 2015 fall semester is well underway and College of the Rockies has, once again, seen an increase in the number of students enrolled.

Overall, registrations at the College have risen four percent since fall 2014 and have grown ten and a half percent from fall 2013.

Program areas that have seen the most significant growth over the year include Business Administration, Child, Youth and Family Studies, Tourism and Recreation Management and Kinesiology.

College of the Rockies Registrar and Manager of Institutional Research, Jason Colombo, is pleased to see the upward trend.  “Our continued increase in enrolments indicates that more students are realizing College of the Rockies is an excellent option for their post-secondary education,” he says. “Our smaller class sizes provide the opportunity for a more personalized educational experience while our affordable tuition and the ability for local students to remain at home make the College a cost-effective way to begin or complete a post-secondary credential.”

A recent report by The British Columbia Council on Admission and Transfer (BCCAT), which looked at students who transferred to a degree-granting institution between 2008 and 2012, demonstrated a significant benefit of starting at College of the Rockies.

The report found that students who transferred from an academic program at College of the Rockies and completed a degree at another BC institution did better academically than most of their peers.  In fact, College of the Rockies transfer students graduated with a higher grade-point-average (GPA) than students from most other BC Colleges and universities.  Further, 85 percent of College of the Rockies transfer students completed their degree – the highest completion rate of transfer students from any BC institution.

College of the Rockies has also been ranked number one in the world in overall student satisfaction in the International Student Barometer, the largest annual survey of international students in the world, conducted by International Graduate Insight Group (i-graduate).

“The i-graduate survey results point out the outstanding learning and teaching environment created by our faculty and also the exceptional support from everyone at the College, from the front door to our superb online environment,” Colombo adds.
