College of the Rockies’ Vice President, Education and Applied Research Stan Chung is pleased to announce the appointment of Doris Silva as Director of Student Affairs and Jason Colombo as the College’s Registrar and Manager of Institutional Research.
Silva, who previously held the position of Registrar and Manager of Student Services for 10 years, will be responsible for enrolment services, student services, the residence, and student life and athletics.
“I am excited for this opportunity,” Silva says. “I look forward to working with my team to continue to create an exceptional experience for our students. My focus will remain supporting our students in achieving their intellectual development and academic goals and preparing them for the next step in their education or in their transition to the workforce.”
Silva, who holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Masters in Leadership from Royal Roads University, has been a part of the College for 20 years. She is an avid recreational runner who just returned from completing a half marathon in Reykjavik, Iceland with a personal best time.
Colombo, a 17-year employee of College of the Rockies had been in the position of Assistant Registrar for the past eight years. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce from the University of Victoria and, as a strong advocate for post-secondary education, is involved in several College and provincial committees.
In his new role, Colombo will oversee the enrolment services and institutional research departments and will continue his work to improve the data collection and reporting that the College requires for future planning.
“I have a strong commitment to students and welcome the opportunity to continually improve services for them, both on campus and online,” Colombo says. “I am looking forward to developing effective processes that will positively impact students from recruitment and admission right through to graduation.”
“We are pleased to have Doris and Jason move into their new roles. With their extensive experience and backgrounds, they will continue to be of great benefit to the College,” notes Chung. “We look forward to their continued contributions to the College and the community.”
