College of the Rockies’ Continuing Education and Contract Training department, in partnership with the Elemental Wellness team, is pleased to announce Escape the Insanity! - a women’s wellness retreat taking place at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort on April 4th and 5th.

A highlight of the weekend will include two guest speakers:

  • Dr. Donna McArthur presenting a workshop called “Busy Women CAN Be Healthy: 5 Steps to Empower Your Daily Life.” In this session, Dr. McArthur will help participants to train themselves to experience less stress, more energy and better health. She will share five simple steps to implement in your daily life to achieve the changes you’ve been yearning for to increase your health, energy and resilience to life’s daily challenges.
  • Kelly Carlson of Defining Yoga studio in Invermere will present a workshop on starting your own sacred yoga practise and how to develop the commitment to bring yoga into your life every day. Carlson will also be leading a Dynamic Flow yoga session suitable for all levels as part of the retreat for participants.

College of the Rockies’ Manager of Continuing Education and Contract Training, Tracey Whiting, says, “We are so pleased to be able to bring an event like this to the community. We all lead such increasingly busy lives and know how difficult it can be to take time for you. This retreat has been designed to do just that and includes time to relax and recharge, to socialize, and to learn and experience something new.”

On Friday, April 4 the retreat kicks off with the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort’s wine sommelier speaking about wines and providing samples paired with tapas. This will be followed by time to relax, socialize and enjoy a soak in the pools.

On Saturday, the retreat will start with fresh fruit and yogurt parfaits, followed by a Dynamic Flow yoga session, Dr. Donna McArthur’s presentation, a hearty brunch and will conclude with Kelly Carlson’s workshop.

Nikki Bradshaw of the Elemental Wellness team adds, “This retreat would be a great experience for mothers and daughters, sisters, and for groups of friends and colleagues to consider signing up for together. It’s also a great way to kick off the spring!”

The cost to attend the retreat is $139 per person plus accommodations. A special accommodation rate is available to participants at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for a limited time. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. To register for the retreat, contact Continuing Education at the College of the Rockies at 250-489-8482 or email [email protected]
