Applications are now being accepted from tourism industry representatives interested in serving on the Destination British Columbia Tourism Marketing Committee.

“Destination British Columbia is very excited to be working with our regional industry partners to create the Tourism Marketing Committee,” said Destination British Columbia board chair, Andrea Shaw. “In a highly competitive environment, this committee will play a critical role in strengthening and aligning our marketing efforts, helping to grow our industry.”

The committee will be comprised of 18 members—three nominated by each of BC’s six tourism regions, including the Kootenay Rockies region.

Committee members will bring their knowledge and expertise to help ensure British Columbia’s tourism brand is well-managed and promoted, and that local and regional marketing programs, in BC and around the world, align with the provincial brand.

“Kootenay Rockies Tourism is pleased that the first step in forming a Tourism Marketing Committee is now a reality,” said Kootenay Rockies Tourism board chair, Michael Smith. “With the wealth of tourism expertise in this region, we are confident our successful applicants will make significant contributions to this new body and to the growth of tourism in this province.”

Kootenay Rockies Tourism is working with the other five Tourism Regions and Destination British Columbia to coordinate the application process in each region.

The deadline for applications is May 17, 2013.
