Nelson’s Kootenay Co-op has named Allan Broom as its new general manager as of June 1.

Allan Broom had been CEO of Enjoy Vacations Management Ltd. since 2013, a company that specialized in online booking service and package wholesaler for mountain resorts in North America.

Previously Mr. Broom worked in Romania at SC GreenSynergy SRL where he provided management consultation services.

“As a business leader, my focus has always been the triple bottom line of environmental, social and financial sustainability,” Broom stated in a recent news release. “The Kootenay Co-op is a pioneer in creating the unique conditions that drive Nelson’s economic and social development. I look forward to guiding our transition to the new store.”

The co-op is gearing up to re-locate to the new Nelson Commons site located on the north end of Baker Street in downtown Nelson in the fall of 2016 – and is anticipating hiring another 25 to 30 employees for the new, bigger store.

Broom replaces Paul Kelly, who has been acting general manager for the past year, and will be the new assistant general manager of the Co-op.
