The 6-day event will begin September 14th in Idaho, with riders travelling a scenic route throughout Washington and B.C.
The WaCanId Ride is a 6 - day cycling event around the International Selkirk Loop, a 350 mile route through Washington, Canada and Idaho—hence the name, WaCanId. The 7th annual Ride will begin (September 14-19) with one of our largest groups of riders participating from all over the US and Canada. The ride starts in Sandpoint, Idaho with the group traveling in a clockwise direction where they will be averaging 70 miles per day with a layover day in Nelson, BC. The finish is in Sandpoint on September 19th. Their schedule is as follows:
September 14 - Sandpoint, ID to Ione, WA
September 15 - Ione, WA to Trail, BC
September 16 - Trail, BC to Nelson, BC
September 17 - Day off (sightseeing in Nelson)
September 18 - Nelson, BC to Creston, BC
September 19 - Creston, BC to Sandpoint, ID
The ride is put on by six different Rotary Clubs from communities of the Selkirk Loop. These clubs provide SAG support for the riders, hauling their luggage with pickup and delivery to the lodging of choice, border crossing assistance, providing water, snacks, lunch, repairing flat tires and will even pick up a rider when they need a lift. In addition, administrative support is provided by the International Selkirk Loop. The ISL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing international recognition to the area to enhance the economies of the communities along the route. This successful relationship has brought many cycling enthusiasts to our area over the years.
