The Warfield Community Hall is undergoing a much-needed facelift. The $62,000 project encompasses a new kitchen and washrooms, along with heating, electrical and plumbing upgrades to this popular spot for weddings, birthdays, reunions and community events.

Chief administrative officer for the Village of Warfield Vince Morelli said the original plans for the expansion were drawn up in 2007, but it took time to secure the funding.

“We opted to do some short-term borrowing and access reserves to pay for it,” Morelli said. “This is our main project this year. Everyone in our community and beyond uses the hall, so the benefits will be felt all around.”

Hil-Tech Contracting has spent a number of months at the work site, excavating, pouring concrete, upgrading and renovating. Project manager Brandon Bryden said there have been some delays, but his crew is close to finishing the project.

“Work will be done the first week of July,” Bryden said. “We ran into some unforeseen underground obstructions that slowed progress, but we are back on track. This expansion will increase the building capacity and commercial kitchen from 150 to 200 people.”

Although no firm plans have been made to date, a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is planned to introduce the new and improved hall to the community.
