Researching each company that will be represented at a career fair can take a lot of time and effort. Here, we have given you a quick idea of what is available to interested individuals. Also check out our complete list of participants for additional options.

Axis Family Resources
Axis Family Resources is a community-based social service agency that serves regions throughout the interior and north of British Columbia. The services it offers are varied and present opportunities for individuals qualified in human services. Current Kootenay job postings are for support workers in Cranbrook, Castlegar, Trail, Rossland and Nelson.

B.C. Ambulance Service
The British Columbia Ambulance Service is continually accepting applications for part-time paramedics in rural locations across the province. The career page on its website also contains varied career-related information and a number of other more specific job postings.

BC Hydro
BC Hydro is a company with an exciting range of opportunities within the energy sector. Current career positions are regularly updated. The company also has an initiative called Youth Hires Program—a great option for young adults who are interested in the sector.

BDO Canada (Cranbrook)
The Cranbrook branch of BDO Canada, an accounting and advisory firm, will be represented. The company is glad to accept and review resumés from individuals interested in working for it. BDO also has official openings throughout Canada along with helpful career and application information on its website.

Canfor Corporation
As producers of high-quality wood products with international operations, Canfor frequently has a diverse range of job opportunities open. The company encourages personal growth and offers generous benefits. Canfor currently has a list of operational positions that it is looking to fill across B.C. and Alberta that includes (but is not limited to) millwrights, electricians and heavy-duty mechanics.

Cummins Western Canada (Sparwood)
Because Cummins is self-proclaimed as “the world’s largest independent manufacturer of diesel engines and a global leader in power generation technology,” it’s no surprise that the company holds exceptional standards and frequently has openings for skilled workers. Cummins is currently looking to fill numerous diesel technician positions along with positions in a number of other fields.

Friends of Fort Steele Society
Fort Steele Heritage Town is a popular job option for students given its potential for engaging seasonal employment. Staff will frequently return for following seasons, but a number of positions open up each year. Although there are none posted yet this early in the year, feel free to check back often and express your interest at the Friends of Fort Steele booth.

Resorts of the Canadian Rockies
For many people, working at a ski resort is a dream job. There are so many other career opportunities that reach beyond being a “liftie.” Resorts of the Canadian Rockies regularly has a variety of jobs opening up. Some of the most recent openings are for skilled cooks in Kimberley.

Rocky Mountain Equipment
With 38 dealerships across the Canadian Prairies, Rocky Mountain Equipment is an important player in both agricultural and construction equipment. The company has a large number of positions open, particularly across Alberta, including equipment technicians and sales consultants.

SMS Equipment Inc. (Elk Valley Operations)
SMS Equipment is diverse in the industry as it supplies parts, service and equipment to construction, mining, forestry and utility companies. It has opportunities throughout Canada, but current openings in Elkford, B.C., are for an electrician, a machinist and a heavy-equipment technician.

St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino
For those experienced and passionate about offering a high level of customer service, St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino has good employment potential. It often hires for seasonal, part-time or full-time positions. The company appreciates applicants who are aiming for a specific position. Although there are none listed at the moment, check the resort's job postings often.

Sun Life Financial (Cranbrook)
Sun Life Financial offers professional help for its clients with a range of financial services, including insurance. The company has appealing career opportunities for anyone interested in the financial sector and sales. The Cranbrook Sun Life branch will gladly consider any resumés from interested individuals, and on-site representatives at the career fair will be able to explain what a position as a financial advisor entails. Interested parties can take the financial advisor suitability questionnaire in advance.

Teck (Sparwood)
As a major presence in mining and resources, Teck is involved in many aspects of the industry, from exploration and research to development and environmental protection. Additionally, it has many openings in the Kootenays, primarily in Trail and Sparwood, as well as summer positions for engineering students. There are also many openings in mine maintenance. Check Teck's opportunity postings to discover what is available.

Tembec
Tembec is involved in forestry and the manufacturing of numerous related products. The company has an entire website directed at those interested in a career with Tembec; the website can help you assess your fit and give you information on the hiring process. Tembec's Skookumchuck mill currently has openings for engineers as well as an electrical supervisor and a day superintendent. 

Kristen Mitchell
