Tourists, trails and skating rinks
Why the village of Radium Hot Springs is a hub for winter fun
For a village of fewer than 800 people, Radium Hot Springs has a lot to offer its residents and visitors.
From maximizing tourist traffic to making the community even more walkable, initiatives in Radium Hot Springs are making it an active and vibrant place.
Skaters will enjoy the village’s two outdoor skating rinks—one for hockey and one for family skating. The second rink was added this season, since last year the one outdoor rink was so well used.
The chamber of commerce partnered with nearby Panorama ski resort and Parks Canada to create an inviting winter promotion—Ski and Soak.
This package deal will encourage visitors to stay in Radium Hot Springs, ski at Panorama, then enjoy the mineral pools situated just at the edge of the community in Kootenay National Park.
Finally, the Village of Radium Hot Springs partnered with the National Trail Coalition and the local Rotary club to expand and connect the community’s already great network of walking trails.
This trail expansion has been going on for several years, with past years seeing lovely pedestrian bridges donated by the community’s Rotary club.
