With a new season comes a new facility for Radium Hot Springs as the building of a four-bay fire hall began in March of 2010.

Arne Dohlen, the project manager and approvals officer for the Village of Radium Hot Springs, said that plans for the new fire hall have been in the works for awhile, because of the village’s increasing population.

“There’s been discussion for at least a couple of years,” said Dohlen. “We got going on it last summer, getting plans set and budgets in place and (then) moved ahead.”

Dohlen said that the new fire hall is scheduled to be operational in mid-September of 2010.

“I think there’s a lot of positive (vibes) from the community, seeing that we are improving our fire coverage,” said Dohlen. “We’re looking forward to having a new and bright building.”
