Quiet, secluded and convenient
The Elk Park Ranch subdivision is a haven just one minute off the highway
The gateway to Elk Park Ranch is like a portal into a world of quiet, luxurious living in a stunningly beautiful alpine setting. Property developer Schickedanz West is proceeding with the development of this 200-acre tract of land immediately north but within the boundaries of the village of Radium Hot Springs, B.C., extending from Highway 95 to the Columbia River.
Two units have now been built and sold, and further construction began around July 1. Realtor Scott Sauermann said that the property zoning gives the developer permission to build upwards of 1,100 housing units, but that they will likely build fewer than that. The lots range in size from one-fifth of an acre to 4.7 acres, and all will have views of the Rockies, the Purcells or both.
More green space and more privacy
“Our focus right now is on single-family and duplex units, for bigger lots, more privacy, lower density housing,” Sauermann said. “The neat thing is that we are developing only 110 of the 200 acres—90 acres are being incorporated into green space, walking trails and park area, which other developers are not doing.”
The development will eventually have an amenities facility including a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness club and a country general store, forming a new village core just off the highway.
Sauermann said that the long-term vision for Elk Park Ranch is for an easygoing lifestyle and toned-down population densities, with larger lots and more privacy. The terrain of the site lends itself to small groupings of homes and an atmosphere of peace and seclusion.
These dwellings, beautifully designed and appointed as they are, capitalize on a feature that the developer didn’t have to buy—awe-inspiring views of the mighty Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges.
