Expanding Panorama

Panorama Mountain Village, a golf and ski resort located just northwest of Invermere, B.C., is growing

by

In late August I visited Panorama Mountain Village, located 18 kilometres northwest of Invermere, B.C., for the first time. It was a sunny morning, and I started my tour at Greywolf Golf Course, just a minute or so up the road from the village centre.

Justin Brown, director of golf, walked me through Greywolf’s beautiful, newly completed clubhouse, with its cozy foyer, restaurant area, state-of-the-art kitchen and pro shop. The clubhouse is a $5-million project and a fitting complement to Greywolf's beautiful course, which is ranked No. 23 in Canada. The project’s architect is BKDI Architects in Calgary and the structure was built by New Dawn Developments of Cranbrook, B.C.

Information from the top

Steve Paccagnan, president and CEO of Panorama Mountain Village, and Marke Dickson, director of sales and marketing, agree that there’s a tremendous amount of excitement and development at the Panorama resort for 2014-15.

“We have a brand new Doppelmayr quad chairlift being built on the mountain,” Paccagnan said. “It will open up a new (ski) learning centre and access to a new real estate development called Trapper’s Ridge. We have 21 lots there, 17 of which are already sold, and we’re bringing on Phase 2 which will be another five lots. That’s an exciting development for us.

“We’ve also invested a considerable amount of money into our on-mountain terrain, doing a lot of glading in the upper alpine, into Taynton Bowl and Sun Bowl. That includes widening and improving the runs for a better skiing experience.”

Dickson said that during the Labour Day weekend, all of the accommodation available in the village was booked. 1000 Peaks, a new 35-unit condo hotel scheduled for completion in 2015, will be a welcome addition to the accommodation available next year.

“Panorama Mountain Village has an incredible amount of capital investment going on right now, thanks to local shareholders who believe in the resort and its future,” said Paccagnan.
