Golden's serene scenic backdrop makes it a lovely place to visit in winter.

The Purcell, Selkirk and Rocky Mountain ranges surround Golden, making skiing a prominent activity here. Nearby Kicking Horse Mountain Resort offers seasonal package deals and equipment rentals. The mountain’s epic slopes get an impressive average annual snowfall of seven metres.

For a one-of-a-kind encounter, stop by the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre. The centre is home to a small pack of grey wolves, and the cold months are a great time to view them in their majestic winter coats.

And if you’re in Golden February 18 and 19, the Snow King’s MasqueParade hearkens back to a time when neighbours created their own entertainment.
