A Golden reputation
This glowing mountain town fosters an active lifestyle
Golden is an attractive B.C. community with much to offer. After checking out the local shops and seeing the sights in town, you can plan an excursion to one—or all—of the neighbouring parks and other outdoor recreation meccas.
National treasures
Visit Glacier National Park, 79 kilometres west of Golden, where you can see old-growth cedar and other wilderness attractions, and stop at Rogers Pass National Historic Site for a glimpse of local history.
Photographers and hikers alike will be amazed by Yoho National Park, located 60 kilometres east of Golden. Here you can take a hike along the trails that extend for more than 400 kilometres, and see several waterfalls, including Takakkaw Falls which, at 254 metres, is one of Canada’s highest. Yoho National Park is also the site of the Burgess Shale Formation, a designated World Heritage Site that is home to marine fossils dating back more than 500 million years.
If you drive 76 kilometres south of Golden, you can access Bugaboo Provincial Park with gorgeous alpine and glacier terrain to be explored.
Kick back in the mountains

The on-site Kicking Horse Bike Park offers guided mountain biking and instruction, and guests can even take in a bird’s-eye view of Golden, the Rocky Mountains and the Columbia River Wetlands on a gondola tour.
