Creston has significant developments in the works

Given the developments that are in the works, Creston’s infrastructure could match that of a town much larger.

A place to stay and meet in style

People could come to Creston for both business and pleasure with the development of a Ramada Inn and convention centre, now in the early stages of planning.

The waste water plant freshens up

Creston’s waste water treatment plant is due for upgrades. In 2010, Creston’s council has prioritized completing a final design and an infiltration study.

Hawk View Estates continues to grow

Hawk View Estates, a residential development, has progressed to Phase 3, said Becky VandenEykel, manager of the Creston & District Chamber of Commerce.

Downtown welcomes new office complex

The future Creston Place office complex will be located in the downtown area. VandenEykel said she expects construction to begin in the spring of 2010.

Rec complex will be a community hub

The Creston & District Community Complex is set to be a town hotspot. Opening in spring 2010, it will feature an aquatic centre, fitness centre, arena, curling rink and more. The building is having an additional 3,716.1 square metres added, while outside the building, 20 acres of land contain sports fields, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball courts and a playground.

“It will be more of a community hub than it ever was,” said Neil Ostafichuk, recreation supervisor for the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
