The creative spirit
The local arts sector gets more captivating every day
The arts community in Cranbrook is alive and kicking, with events, private and public exhibits and businesses that centre around creative expression in various forms.
Given the continual focus on improving its esthetic appeal, the city is welcoming artists with open arms and the community is all the better for it.
Performers with pizzazz
Those with a penchant for the performing arts can take in a show at the Key City Theatre. This facility boasts a steady lineup, which includes concerts, dramatic performances and other special events.
For more live theatre thrills, Studio & Stage Door always has something in the works.
Sending a message
One of Cranbrook’s most moving public art exhibits is the Reconciliation sculpture at the Canadian Rockies International Airport. Artists Paul Reimer and Michael Hephner constructed this sculpture as a gesture of apology and peacemaking for the damage caused to the Ktunaxa Nation over the course of history.
Cherished collections
Cranbrook has quality locales displaying local artwork. Artrageous Art Gallery highlights creations made in every medium imaginable, and is also home to the Cranbrook and District Arts Council.
Fisher Peak Art Gallery has gained momentum steadily since opening in June 2010, and has built a strong reputation in town for supporting fellow Kootenay artists.
The Key City Gallery, located in the upper floor of the Key City Theatre, also has a rotating display of exhibits.
