Position available. Education and experience requirements:
- Certificate in human/social service field or equivalent in education and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of adults with mental health issues.
- At least six months relevant work experience is required for this position. Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support services is performed.
- Food Safe certificate.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment, often dealing with clients in crisis situations. It is important to have an ability to manage stress and conflict. A moderate physical fitness level is a requirement of this position, since direct delivery of services may involve walking, standing, kneeling, lifting and recreational activities.
- The worker must have a valid Level 1 First Aid certificate, a valid CPI certificate, a valid B.C. driver’s licence and safe driver’s abstract, a reliable vehicle, a clean drug/alcohol test and at least $2 million liability insurance on vehicle if transporting clients.

Job description: Working as an EMR is an entry-level, community-focused position ideal for people who live and work in a rural or remote area and have a desire to make a difference. EMRs typically work in the station where they are hired; however, getting a Primary Care Paramedic licence will lead to opportunities in other stations. BCAS would like to talk to you about financial support for your EMR training if you want to take action and work as an EMR in your home community. BCAS employs EMRs on an on-call, part-time basis.

Forest Fire Fighters – entry level position: responsible to perform basic duties for fire suppression and containment of forest fires. Training for this position will be provided.
- Forest Fire Fighter Key Crew Members: responsible to perform all duties of Forest Fire Fighters, and also have specialized training for designated crew positions
- First Aid Attendant: Requires Level 1 First Aid and Transportation Endorsement
- Power Saw Operator: Requires Power Saw Operator Training and Experience
- Danger Tree Assessor: Requires Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor – Fire Module certification and Experience
- Crew Leader: Requires upper level Fire Suppression and Supervisory Training, such as S-230 and related courses and Experience
- Structure Protection Crew Members: responsible for going into communities, or other valued structures, in ahead of an advancing forest fire to treat surrounding areas and/or set up sprinkler systems in an attempt to prevent the forest fire from burning those structures. Requires NFPA 1001 certification. Additional Training provided if required.
- First Aid Attendants: Individuals who are responsible for providing First Aid care on active forest fires or at fire base camps. Requires Level 3 First Aid certification.
- First Aid Vehicle Drivers: Individuals who are working with First Aid Attendants to drive them to and from locations as required during the fires, to assist First Aid Attendants in locating and moving equipment as required, and to drive First Aid Attendants along with any injured individuals to care facilities if needed. Requires Class 4 Driver’s License.
