New Dawn Developments, based in Cranbrook, B.C., is a busy, happening company. President Chad Jensen is comfortable and easygoing as he talks about New Dawn's many diverse projects—big and small—that are on the books or in development in the region and beyond.

A partial list of projects reads like a destination map throughout the Kootenays. Residential and recreational homes are being constructed in Windermere, Fairmont Hot Springs, Fernie and Moyie, and at lakes such as Koocanusa, Tie and Rosen. Kimberley has been a success story for New Dawn Developments with the completion of the Kimberley Conference & Athlete Training Centre, the Alpine Nordic Centre and Mountain Spirit Resort and Spa. A renovation to the Pine Inn at Panorama Mountain Village and a large addition on Fox’s Transport in Cranbrook’s industrial park have contributed to the region’s economic and employment base.

Jensen described what he feels is the secret to the company’s success and longevity.

“We’ve been here since ‘78 and our focus is on customer service and quality of product,” he said. “We’ve always maintained the business model of basically slow and steady wins the race.”

Stay local and market to Western Canada

Local companies and contractors are used as much as possible and include known businesses such as Home Hardware, Martech Electrical Systems, Key City Drywall and Riemann Painting.

Alberta also looms large for New Dawn, with a significant portion of the company's business coming from Wild Rose Country. New Dawn has taken advantage of the recent addition of Integra Air flying in and out of the Canadian Rockies International Airport to market Cranbrook to destinations in central and northern Alberta.

“We have built three of four (homes) for families that live here and work in Fort McMurray and commute up,” said Jensen.

Designed for quality

When you choose to build, be it in a designated community or on your own property, New Dawn Developments offers a quality personalized experience, said Jensen. The staff at New Dawn can guide you through all the different options, looks and styles available in the comfortable and convenient setting of its offices and full design centre.

New Dawn Developments is committed to building green. On the Energuide building spectrum, new construction projects rate high. Whereas an average score is between 67 and 77, typically a New Dawn Developments building will achieve 80 or better. For the homeowner, this translates into a lower carbon footprint and savings over time in energy and heat consumption. Jensen said New Dawn is leading the way in building energy-efficient homes as a standard offering.

“We are committed to the goal of all homes reaching Built Green Gold,” Jensen said. “We are committed to Fisher Peak Townhomes to reach Built Green Platinum—the first Built Green Platinum project in Cranbrook, which is exciting.”

Award-winning recognition

With a bevy of awards over the years—recently including Contractor of the Year and Best Kitchen Designs—New Dawn Developments can give you the confidence and experience to satisfy your personal visions for your project.

Whether you’re considering a commercial or a residential construction, New Dawn Developments can lead the way to a high-quality, energy-efficient product that you will be proud of for years to come.
