Chatters Salon, established in Cranbrook in September 2000, continues to offer a full range of services at its location in the Tamarack Centre—for now. In the early summer of this year, however, the salon will be closing at that location to consolidate its operations in a bigger new space.

A longtime tenant at the Tamarack shopping centre, the salon opened at its new location on December 8, 2012. It now occupies the former home of Payless Shoesource, situated on the southwest corner of the Walmart parking lot across from the Real Canadian Superstore service station.

Doreen Belliveau is the manager of communications and public relations for Chatters Canada Limited, headquartered in Red Deer, Alberta. She said that the move has been anticipated for a long time, because it became necessary to provide more space for the stylists and the increased product lines.

Debra Muir, on-site owner of Chatters Cranbrook, is pleased with the new location. Her staff of approximately 15 are enjoying the bright and open design, and appreciate the efficient new workstations.

“We definitely outgrew our space at the mall, and we worked really hard to find the ideal location to better serve the citizens of Cranbrook,” Muir said. “We're all very happy here. Each stylist has their own sink and station so customers can fully enjoy their hair experience without moving around. At our new location we have abundant space for hair products, nail products, flat irons, blow-dryers and skin care.”

Muir said that because of the shop's proximity to Walmart and the Real Canadian Superstore, and because Chatters’ signage is visible from the highway, the salon has greater exposure to the passing public than it ever has, and that’s a good thing.

Chatters Canada Limited has close to 100 salons in seven provinces across the country.
