Chris Ayling was named Cranbrook’s Citizen of the Year for 2011.

Ayling was nominated by Gord Johnston; Johnston stated that Ayling’s positive attitude on Cranbrook Connected was exemplary. Ayling also volunteers for the Columbia Basin Trust, Cranbrook in Bloom and the Hungry for Life Haiti fundraiser.

"I think it's important to note that you only ever achieve big and lasting projects working as a team," said Ayling, "and I'm grateful to my colleagues on Cranbrook Connected and to the many other individuals and groups who helped us develop a long-term sustainability plan for our community."

The Cranbrook & District Chamber of Commerce recognized Ayling on January 18, 2012.
