2016 Top 50 Kootenay Companies
It’s time once again to present Kootenay Business magazine’s Top 50 Kootenay Companies by revenue.
We are pleased to see Selkirk College added to the 2016 list, especially since the West Kootenay educational institution is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Other businesses that didn’t appear on last year’s list are Nelson-based companies KMC Kootrac - Kootenay Tractor and Trainor Mechanical Contractors Ltd., as well as the Eagle Ranch Resort in Invermere.
A number of car dealerships appear regularly on the Top 50 list, perhaps not surprising since auto sales in Canada broke records in 2016.
The mining and forestry industries also continue to be Kootenay mainstays. Other sectors that figure prominently are financial (credit unions and insurance companies), manufacturing and construction, retail, and hospitality and tourism.
