Regularly scheduled flights will be landing at the Revelstoke airport this winter. They will be starting in January and run through the heart of winter ski season until March 2017. With a total budget in excess of $110,000 the project will see 32 scheduled flights (16 return flights) over the three month span.

“The air service is going to fly,” Alan Mason, the City of Revelstoke’s director of economic development, told the Revelstoke Review newspaper.

Partners include the City of Revelstoke, the Revelstoke Airport, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (Economic Opportunity Fund), Revelstoke Accommodation Association and Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Jointly they have struck a deal to guarantee the availability of planes from Pacific Coastal Airlines to bring travelers to Revelstoke from Vancouver and back.

Flights should be priced at about $250 per seat, but the exact figures are still being finalized. The overall budget commitment by the partners may be reduced if the flights are fully utilized.  As it stands now, flights would land and return on Thursdays and Sundays, allowing visitors a number of vacation stay options.

Pacific Coastal Airlines currently offers regular daily flights into Cranbrook and Trail in the Kootenays.
