It may look like a vacant field right now but it will soon be the home of Creston's long awaited new hotel.

Ramada Hotels is building a new hotel and conference centre on the north end of Creston at the turn-off of Highway 3.

The project is being built by Revelstoke-based contractor Vic Van Isle, with footings and concrete well underway. The project should be completed in early to mid 2012 and will be a boon for tourism and conference trade in the Creston Valley.

The Town of Creston is already touting the new hotel, "The Ramada Inn Hotel and conference facility has started construction on property located at the junction of Highway 3 and Highway 3A."

There is also talk of a new Boston Pizza franchise next door and a possible big box retailer (AKA Walmart) looking at property nearby in north Creston.
