The long awaited new Fernie Home Hardware store is now under construction, just off of Highway #3 on the east side of Fernie. The massive new store is being structured in the middle of the current store's lumberyard and the current store will be converted to a warehouse once everything is completed.

The store is owned and operated by Home Hardware franchise dealer Walter Ingram and his wife, Heather. They are assisted by their son Ryan Ingram.

The new store will be substantially bigger than the current store, allowing the new outlet to feature a better line up of products and services for the consumer.

"We look forward to bringing not really a new business, but a larger business to Fernie, and presenting the people here with a better shopping experience, so hopefully they won’t have to go other places to get what they need," said Walter Ingram, in an interview with Fernie Free Press.

With construction of the outer structure well underway, the new Home Hardware in Fernie is slated for completion in the summer of 2013.
