Here’s Jennifer’s story...

Three days before her eighth birthday, Jennifer De Pippo was nearly killed in a car accident which claimed the life of her mother and left her with brain injuries so severe that the doctors said she would never walk or talk again. She had to re-learn how to do everything. In her young life, she has fought through much adversity and overcome so many obstacles. She has shown that she does not give up easily. She has found the strength and will to prove to herself and others what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Because of issues with balance due to her injury, she found she had greater success as an athlete in the water due to its buoyancy. She began training seriously as a swimmer in August of 2013 and since then has competed at the CAN-AM Games in Edmonton in December of 2014 and the AAA Provincial Championships in Surrey in March where she won Gold and Bronze medals.

Her goal now is to compete at the Paralympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 2016. She trains several hours daily and she will continue to prepare and compete in order to qualify. As a community, let’s stand with Jennifer by assisting her to raise the funds necessary to make this journey possible.
