The first person honoured was College of the Rockies president Nic Rubidge. Dr. Rubidge has been president of the college since 2001 and guided the facility through some major expansions — in course selection and physical layout — in recent years.

He was one of founding directors of the East Kootenay Community College back at its inception in 1975. The chamber congratulated Dr. Rubidge on his leadership and vision at the College of the Rockies.

The second person recognized was Garry Anderson, retiring executive director of the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel in Cranbrook. After 32 years at the helm of the museum Garry Anderson was congratulated for his vision and dedication in taking the facility from a single railcar to the world-class museum exhibit that it is today. In his parting words Garry Anderson spoke extensively about the importance of preserving Cranbrook's heritage and history. He unveiled a recently published heritage tour map for the city, which documents over 90 heritage significant sites.

Kootenay Business congratulates both Dr. Nic Rubidge and Garry Anderson and wish them the very best in their retirement.
