Tim Popowich can hardly contain his enthusiasm about his new business, Fernie Copper Works Inc. After a three-year break from a long career in sheet metal, he started his own venture, and for the first time, he feels like he’s being creative. “Copper is a natural material that seems like it’s alive,” he said. “It changes over time. I’m able to be involved at every step, from learning exactly what the client wants, through the fabrication and installation. It feels more like building a relationship than like a job. I love what I do, and so do my clients.”
