“At one point this winter it was taking 21 days to get our product to port in Vancouver,” said Troy Hrodmadnik, Tembec representative.  He was the guest speaker at last week’s Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

“We must improve availability in the transportation sector. We have a real shortage of trucks and rail cars in the East Kootenay, to get our lumber products to market,” Hrodmadnik told the chamber audience. “Customers demand a fast turnaround than 21 days.”

The company is working to find a solution to their transportation issues, which are so critical to the company’s success. Tembec is an integrated forest company and is Cranbrook’s largest employer.
