The Hometown Heroes Award Program celebrates environmental leaders, groups and small businesses who foster long-term community awareness and action. The annual program was established by Earth Day Canada in 2004.

The Small Business Hometown Heroes Award is a $5,000 cash prize that must be used by the business to make an operational change that results in the business lessening its environmental impact.

Do your operations result in positive sustainable impacts? Do you serve as a community ambassador, influencing suppliers, customers and the public to support a healthier environment?

Do you include environmental planning as an integral part of your business model?

Candidates must be a Canadian-owned and -operated small business for at least two years and must have demonstrated outstanding environmental leadership, innovation and benefits beyond their products or services.

Complete the Small Business Hometown Heroes nomination package, including all forms and supporting documentation. Nominations must be postmarked by June 30, 2015.

The Hometown Heroes Award Program is made possible through a partnership with Mill Street Brewery and the RBC Foundation.

And let us here at Kootenay Business know if you’ve submitted an application. You’re already a hero in our book if you have, and we can share your story with our readers.
