The home-based business that resulted from Tammy Bessant’s brush with skin cancer is doing very well indeed, thank you. In fact, EarthWear Face & Body Products has been selected—out of the many established names in the competitive arena of skincare—to be a house brand for the Silver Water Spa. This new amenity is located at the prestigious St. Eugene Golf Resort near Cranbrook, B.C., and scheduled to open on July 3, 2016.

This is an almost unthinkable achievement for a product that was created in Bessant’s kitchen in Estevan, Saskatchewan 10 years ago. The diagnosis of skin cancer prompted Bessant to search—in vain, as it turned out—for a line of skincare products that met her criteria for being chemical- and toxin-free. Her investigation of many products promising  safe and natural ingredients always led to disappointment, and Bessant decided to formulate a recipe of her own.

The “My Story” page on the EarthWear website tells Bessant’s story in detail, and if you watch the video clip, you’ll likely want to meet her in person.

Bessant still makes all of the EarthWear products in her kitchen, but now her kitchen is in Cranbrook, B.C. She complies with the legal requirements of Health Canada’s Cosmetics Program and follows strict guidelines for product hygiene.

Now, EarthWear products have been given a significant vote of confidence by Dr. Allan Strauss, who owns the Salveo Naturopathic & Skin Care Clinic in Maple Ridge, B.C., as well as J’Adore Medi-Spa and Silver Water Spa in Cranbrook. This locally manufactured product line will be used in the Silver Water Spa’s luxury spa services, and it’s pretty much guaranteed that the number of EarthWear admirers will grow very quickly and carry the name far and wide.

Bessant has been a regular vendor at farmers markets and craft fairs for years, first in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and now in Cranbrook. EarthWear is also available at a growing number of outlets—mostly health food stores and salons—throughout Saskatchewan and southeastern B.C., and you can also buy the products online.

Bessant will likely be pretty busy with her newest client for a while, but she plans to continue her attendance at the markets as well as guest appearances at stores carrying EarthWear products.
