Angela Peebles and Simon Kelly opened Toast in Nelson in early February 2016. They run the full-service breakfast and lunch eatery by themselves under the slogan “Keepin' it real,” using local, organic ingredients. They make breads, butter, cheese, sauces and jams in-house, and use the resulting buttermilk and whey in their baking and buckwheat pancakes. These items take pride of place next to all-organic, free-range eggs, milk, cream, meats and produce. The couple's previous restaurant, the Regal Diner in Niagara Falls, Ontario, was featured on You Gotta Eat Here, and Toast's fare is equally remarkable.
