Mining week brings free tours to Teck’s Elk Valley Coal Operations

Want to get a close up look at the most dynamic industry in the Kootenays? Teck Coal is offering a number of tours of the mining operations during May's mining week. Buses have been arranged to pick up participants in the Fernie, Blairmore and Sparwood. Participants must pre-register with Sparwood Chamber of Commerce.

Here is a schedule:

Tours from Elkford

May 12thFording River Operations

May 16thGreenhills Operations

The pickup time would be 11:00 am from the Elkford Visitor Center.

Mining week this year is Sunday, May 11th to Saturday, May 17th.

During this period, we will once again be offering mine tours at each operation in partnership with the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce.

Here is the schedule from Sparwood:

May 12th – Fording River Operations
May 13th – Line Creek Operations
May 14th – Coal Mountain Operations
May 15th – Elkview Operations
May 16th – Greenhills Operations

A bus will pick up participants and depart at 09:30 from both the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and the Blairmore Mall in the Crowsnest Pass. They will connect at the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce, gather local participants, and depart at 10:30 for the designated site.

Everyone must register with the Sparwood Chamber 250-425-2423 to take part on a tour.
