To celebrate Financial Literacy Month, Junior Achievement British Columbia (JABC) is educating youth through our “Dollars With Sense” program at Stanley Humphries Secondary School in Castlegar.

It will be delivered to over 100 grade nine students. “Dollars with Sense” is a program that is fun and interactive and provides practical information to students about money and debt. Junior Achievement of British Columbia is pleased to make this unique program available with the hope that it will foster a better understanding of how money works.

Jeff Holm from CIBC Wood Gundy has volunteered his time and expertise to facilitate this program to the students. With his background in finance and passion for financial literacy Jeff will be providing students with the knowledge and experience they need to make better economic decisions. JA thanks Jeff for his time, commitment to his community’s youth and dedication to promoting financial literacy.

The presentations will take place between November 23 - December 14, 2016. Meagan Noel is JA Program Coordinator – Kootenay Columbia Region.

“Nobody is ever taught the benefits and dangers of credit. Nobody is ever taught how to properly budget. Nobody is ever taught how to get a loan. Most of us learn these things through trial and error. My passion comes from the errors I made due to a lack of basic understanding. JABC’s “Dollars With Sense” is providing youth today the knowledge to avoid this trial and error process. CIBC Wood Gundy and Junior Achievement have provided me with an opportunity to improve the lives of hundreds of youth in my own community through financial literacy. I am very proud to be a part of it.”
